The unnamed attendant of a gas station is a Vietnam War veteran who continually flashes back to his time in the jungle. He continues to wage the war by obtaining the addresses of attractive female customers via their credit-card payments, then invading their homes and raping and murdering them. We follow him on three of these excursions; on the third, he encounters a pair of very stoned hippie women who give him more than he bargained for.

The film follows Jennifer, a writer who is working on a new novel and needs to get out of the city to finish it. She hires a riverside apartment in upstate New York to finish her novel, attracting the attention of a number of rowdy male locals. They catch Jenifer one day and strip her naked for the village idiot (Matthew) and rape her. Jennifer is later attacked and raped a further two times by the four degenerates, and her novel is also destroyed. But Jennifer slowly recovers and in her now-twisted, psychotic mind, she then begins to seek revenge on the four men who raped her...

Pasolini sceglie come ambientazione del film la Salò del 1944, e prende a simbolo il potere fascista solo per richiamare un qualsiasi potere. Il film, che è strutturato in 4 gironi (4 è il numero che ritornerà spesso nel film, come nel libro di De Sade), si rifà ad un’impostazione dantesca. Come in Dante, nel passaggio da un girone all’altro la perversione dei supplizi subiti dai giovani sequestrati, maschi e femmine, inflitti da parte di quattro gerarchi di Salò, tra cui il monsignore, aumenta gradualmente di intensità fino al preannuncio della morte...

Frigga is a young woman who was raped by a stranger as a child. Suffering from shock from this incident, she becomes a mute. One day, she heads to town to visit a highly qualified doctor about her condition. However, she misses the bus. A seemingly nice gentleman offers her a ride into town and has dinner with her, but she is drugged and is intentionally hooked onto heroine in order for the man to control her. She is forced to work in his brothel, but is given Mondays off, and she is given heroine daily, as to keep her coming back to the brothel for a supply. The pimp also forges a letter that is sent to her parents, which cruelly explains away her disappearance as abandonment. Her parents kill themselves in grief. After learning of her parents death, Frigga uses her Mondays off in order to train in martial arts, sharp-shooting, and driving, in order for her to take revenge on those who have wronged her.
