When several young boys are brutally murdered in a small southern Italian village, the superstitious locals react with ignorance and violence. Accendura, un paesino dell’Italia meridionale: quattro bambini vengono uccisi e una fattucchiera viene linciata prima che un giornalista e una turista scoprano l’assassino, davvero insospettabile. Interessante thriller italiano poiché si discosta da tutti gli altri esempi di quegli anni: la parte erotica è limitata ad una sola scena per la quale il film fu processato la Bouchet compare nuda di fronte a un bambino), ma poi assolto perché si scoprì che era un nano maggiorenne, e quella che viene descritta è una realtà tipica dell’Italia del Sud, cioè una comunità in cui vigono ancora tradizioni arcaiche come la superstizione e la iettatura e nella quale si respira un’aria mista di sacro e profano. Quello che più affascina è l’inusuale messinscena di immagini di un romanticismo nero e disperato: se Fulci è stato, esageratamente, soprannominato "il poeta della morte", il merito va tutto a questo film e basta vedere la scena dell’uccisione della Bolkan (ritmata dalle note di Quei giorni insieme a te cantata da Ornella Vanoni) e quella finale della morte del maniaco per rendersene conto. A suo tempo duramente contestato dai soliti cattolici fanatici, per le tendenze velatamente pedofile e omosessuali del colpevole...

A tasteless, plot-free exploitation movie that tries to pass itself off as serious social docudrama, this 1980 Shaw Bros. production directed by Mou Tun Fei/TF Mous of MAN BEHIND THE SUN fame is as nasty as any Cat. III movie during the genre's heyday in the 90's. Purported to make viewers understand and sympathize with the unlucky fates illegal immigrants suffer when they risk their lives swimming their way into HK, Mou is more interested in lengthy scenes of physical and sexual degradation of increasing intensity than any serious sociological or political investigation worthy of this subject.

Из 6 фильмов снятых Тунь Фэй Моу до "Потерянных душ" ближе всего по духу к нему фильм "Люди позади солнца / Man Behind the Sun / Отряд 731 / Hei tai yang 731 / Squadron 731". "Люди позади солнца" можно описать этим же самым предложением, заменив "имигрантов" на "военопленных", а "бандитов" на "японских солдат".

A young pretty nun is wandering through the countryside picking flowers. She sees a naked man who greets her, and she runs away. When talking to a local boy, the man reappears in clothing this time, and he tries to get her to take a bite of a shiny red apple. She runs away again, and the devil (as he clearly must be) takes a bite of the apple while he watches her retreat. The devil shows up against outside the convent window when the nuns are eating. He disappears, then appears as a small red thing (light, jewel, apple?), then even that disappears. The nun shows herself to be kind to the black nuns, who are discriminated against, and to be gentle and healing with animals. When another nun comes to her room to declare her admiration and love for her, she immediately collapses on the bed accepting the seduction. Satan finally got to her. Her behavior becomes more satanic, as she seduces or kills people. Her clothing is frequently removed. Satan proves himself to be pretty powerful, while God seems absent...

Фильм "Медея" Пазолини является вольным изложением цикла древнегреческих мифов об аргонавтах, и их плавании в Колхиду за золотым руном. Царство Медеи показано как обиталище безропотных жертв, занятых в кровавом культе, представляющим собой явную отсылку к христианской евхаристии. Аргонавты, напротив, предстают бандой насильников, скорее зверей, чем людей. Отношения Медеи и Ясона после возвращения в Элладу показаны сообразно трагедии Еврипида. Пазолини дважды изображает историю мести Медеи, убившей Главку — новую жену Ясона и своих сыновей от него, с различных точек зрения, так что невозможно понять — сон ли это оставленной Медеи, или же мифологизированное отражение ужасной человеческой трагедии. В первой версии Медея смертельно ранит Ясона, и он не в состоянии воспрепятствовать убийству детей, и отправке Главке отравленного одеяния. Во второй версии, Главка, получив жреческое одеяние Медеи, как бы перевоплощается в неё саму, и устрашась своей судьбы, кончает жизнь самоубийством...

 

Съемки фильма происходили в Каппадокии, Турция, причем покинутый мужской христианский монастырь «играл роль» колхидского поселения и царского дворца. Великая оперная певица Мария Каллас сыграла в этом фильме свою единственную роль в кино. Она не только не поёт, но и практически не произносит ни слова.

 

To win the kingdom his uncle took from his father, Jason must steal the golden fleece from the land of barbarians, where Medea is royalty and a powerful sorceress, where human sacrifice helps crops to grow. Medea sees Jason and swoons, then enlists her brother's aid to take the fleece. She then murders her brother and becomes Jason's lover. Back in Greece, the king keeps the throne, the fleece has no power, and Medea lives an exile's life, respected but feared, abandoned by Jason. When she learns he's to marry the king's daughter, Medea tames her emotions and sends gifts via her sons; then, loss overwhelms her and she unleashes a fire storm on the king, the bride, and Jason.

Через полгода к кинотеатру подъезжали лимузины, а в кассу выстраивались километровые очереди...

 

The gunfighter El Topo ("The Mole") and his young son ride through a desert to a village, whose inhabitants have been massacred. Bandits are nearby, torturing and killing the survivors. El Topo rescues a woman (Mara), who leads him on a mission to find and defeat the four master gunmen of the desert. Leaving his son with a group of monks, El Topo and Mara complete the mission, accompanied by a mysterious woman in black. The women leave El Topo wounded in the desert, where he is found by a clan of deformed people who take him to the remote cavern where they live. Awakening years later, he goes with a dwarf woman to a nearby town, promising to dig a tunnel through which the cave-dwellers can escape. They find the town run by a vicious sheriff and home to a bizarre religious cult. El Topo's son, now a man, is a monk in the town. The completion of the tunnel leads El Topo, the townspeople, and the cave-dwellers to a bloody and tragic end...
