Lina Romay is found, naked and bloody in a luxurious house and is promptly taken to a mental institute. The doctors and nurses meant to take care of her aren't exactly who they seem and a mysterious figure, clad in black, circles the premise at night, offing nubile young women. Who is it and why is he/she doing it, and why is Lina Romay always close-by witnessing it when it happens? Franco raises a lot of interesting questions that keeps the viewer intrigued for the duration of the feature presentation. Franco this time incorporated some thriller/slasher elements and made the film all the better for it. Acting-wise it's pretty much business as usual - bad! But the girls are beautiful and naked... and let's face it, that's what these productions were all about. The photography is simply stunning, although a few instances can be seen where there seems to be vaseline smeared on the lens of the camera, but it really isn't distracting. An entertaining little Franco-gem. Sure, it's mainly for the fans but if you're looking for a way into the Franco universe, this is as good a place to start as any...

This Czech romantic comedy was withheld from release for almost ten years, perhaps because it paints the life of working people in an unflattering light, or perhaps because it accurately shows the public buildings and apartments in working-class sections of town in their genuine, ramshackle condition. In the story, Vinco (Milan Jelic) and Pista (Roman Klosowski) are longtime friends and drinking buddies. Both of them are likeable but very flawed characters - hardly anyone's idea of romantic heros. One day the inveterate ladies man Vinco passes out after turning on the gas to make some coffee, and dies. It happens that one of his girlfriends was pregnant at the time he died, and Pista takes it into his head to sober up and look after the woman and child in his friend's memory...

This is an excellent film, with an unfortunate and misguided bad reputation. Partly because Jancso antagonised the critics by including explicit (for its time) sex when they had been used to more "political" content. Jancso used the sexuality in his film to point out that we live in a repressive society and showed that the characters in his film were willing, up until the point of death, to live out their free attitudes towards sexuality. This was and still is a subversive issue as sexuality still seems to need some dismal excuse for inclusion in non-pornographic films. In this film Jancso was bold enough to present eroticism within a deliberately anarchic context. Contrary to other readers comments this film is neither boring nor rubbish. The fact also that it has homosexual imagery disturbs a lot of narrow minded viewers, but there again Jancso showed these images to represent a multi-sexual utopia. This utopia of course in the film had to be destroyed. You can't get more political than that...

Даже через 25 лет эта лента выглядит актуальнее самых свежих фильмов. Она снята крупнейшим венгерским режиссером на итальянском языке в Югославии с участием международной киногруппы и в вольной ассоциативной манере трактует события из истории австро-венгерской империи. Пунктирно прочерченный (как обычно у Миклоша Янчо) сюжет лишь намекает на неясный характер конфликта императора и молодого наследника престола, который после неудачного заговора с умыслом устраивает чинную церемонию, затем превращающуюся в "сексуальную заварушку". И именно этот неприличный вызов заставляет власти принять крутые меры против нарушителей устоев общества. Трагифарс Янчо, поставленный сразу же после трагедии "Любовь моя, Электра" (одной из лучших в творчестве мастера, который умеет поражать чисто кинематографической, хотя внешне - как бы хореографической или пантомимической - подачей материала), не без издевательской иронии доказывает, что "сексуальная революция" намного опаснее для диктаторского режима, чем политический терроризм и классовая борьба. Оргии на свежем воздухе в различных комбинациях. Любовный треугольник... В картине снялась Илона Сталлер, в будущем прославившаяся на весь мир как Чиччолина, депутат парламента Италии...

"Breaking Point" is a truly demented porno thriller made by Bo Arne Vibenius of "Thriller:A Cruel Picture" fame.Andreas Bellis plays a rapist murderer who runs amok.He stalks women,follows them home,then rapes and kills them.He also plays with his toy trains and suffers from sexual nightmares.It seems to me that Vibenius has taken obvious pains to create attractive art-house shot compositions,including some amazing dreamlike sequences;an achievement made all the more impressive considering the film's threadbare sets and obvious low budget.Still "Breaking Point" is a grim and bleak film that offers plenty of hard core sex and perversity.Unfortunately the action sequences near the end are poorly staged...
