This is the story of Hanna. Her parents have split, her mother is a drunk with a younger boyfriend (who would much rather sleep with Hanna). Many of her friends are junkies and worse. Hanna gets money by letting people see her naked. Eventually her home life goes from dysfunctional to destructive (a short hop) and Hanna needs to escape. She begins to use heroine and eventually takes up with a guy who pimps her out. As her life begins to slide she meets a nice young man who falls in love with her and she tries to get clean. However her old life is still lurking out there...

This film doesn't adhere to the usual Giallo rules and traditions, and at first it's difficult to see where it's going. Lenzi does a good job with creating his characters, however, and although the first half of the movie is all about setting up the second half, it's interesting thanks to the handling and decent performances from all concerned. When the twist in the tale comes about, it's amazingly shocking because it appears to come out of nowhere, although Lenzi does a good job of ensuring that it doesn't feel superfluous to the plot, and the change of direction certainly suits the film. Oasis of Fear benefits from a good cast, which includes prolific Italian cult film star Ray Lovelock and future Italian beauty Ornella Muti. The pair interacts well, and provide good impressions of their characters; even though they're clearly not British. The real standout, however, is Irene Papas who is handed the meatiest role in the film (the one usually given to Carol Baker), and gets to have fun with a character who is anything but what she seems. The standout sequence of the film takes place in an aviary full of owls, and the nihilistic conclusion manages to be sad despite the lightweight nature of the movie, and overall; this is a Giallo definitely worth tracking down.

И наши молодые герои зарабатывает деньги не совсем законным, но прибыльным способом – продают порнографию, как свою, так и чужую. В один прекрасный момент их ловят и в качестве наказания приказывают им в течение суток покинуть страну. Казалось бы, приключения закончились, но не тут то было. По дороге домой у них крадут все деньги, бензина практически нет, так что катастрофа полная. И судьба заносит их к одинокому дому. Хозяйка дома – немолодая, но красивая Барбара ведет себя довольно странно. Вначале она устраивает истерику перед гостями, потом внезапно успокаивается и приглашает их в дом, а затем и вовсе просит остаться переночевать. При этом от гостей не ускользает ее странная нервозность… В чем же дело? И чем закончится визит в этом странном доме?..

Насыщенный сексом до предела рассказ о любви хиппующего талантливого скульптора-бунтаря Эрика к несовереннолетней рыжеволосой дочери абсолютно гадкой мамаши многих может шокировать. Любовь здесь подана как сильное, сводящее с ума чувство, но она смешана с потом, волосами, мочой и фекалиями...

 

Sort of a cross between "Love Story" and an earthy Rembrandt painting, this movie stars Rutger Hauer as a gifted Dutch sculptor who has a stormy, erotic, and star-crossed romance with a beautiful young girl. The story follows the arc of their relationship and his interaction with her family. Told in flashback form, initially Hauer is seen as a libertine lothario collector, taking trophies from his sexual conquests and pasting them in a book. He sees a sculpture he made of his lost lover and goes into a flashback of his relationship with his wife. He meets the girl, falls in love with/marries her, and we meet her parents: a charming, well meaning, bumbling father, and his shrew of a wife, who's convinced Hauer's too much of a bohemian to make a good mate for her daughter. Eventually, the petty jealousies, the sexual hijinks, and the climactic vomit scene prove too much for the marriage, and sculptor and his lady fair separate. Flash forward several months, and Hauer finds the girl back in Holland after an American sojourn. Their reunion is short lived; the somewhat melodramatic ending mirrors "Love Story".
