The story of the last voyage of the airship Hindenburg in 1937 from Germany to Lakehurst, New Jersey. The story is presented from the various viewpoints of aircrew and passengers, fictionalizing real passengers for plot purposes and exploring a conspiracy theory as to what caused the disaster whilst setting the events in a historical context. The film incorporates the iconic newsreel coverage of the actual disaster. This film is a compendium of the facts and fiction of the events leading up to the disaster. For dramatic effect, Sabotage was chosen as the cause, rather than electricity lashing out at a couple of tons of hydrogen...

"The Hindenburg" - is a unique illustration of the Hindenberg disaster, which occurred on the evening of May 6, 1937 in Lakehurst, New Jersey when the gigantic hydrogen-filled zeppelin exploded on landing. Although a common theory for this event's cause was a discharge of electricity from the atmosphere triggering the fire, here it is suggested as sabotage. As a result of the explosion, 36 people (one third of those on-board the German airship) were killed...
